Video Editing Exercise

Week 5 (24th April 2018) & Week 7 (8th May 2018)

At week 5, we will be editing a video that we filmed during Week 4. For this editing exercise, we have 9 good shots in total which we will be editing into one whole video. I used Premiere Pro to edit the video.

While editing the video, there are several audio flaws throughout the video, for instance, while one clip has loud music, the other is just plain silence,  for the clips to go well together, I have then edited the audio part of the clip, I added the audio transitioning effect called Constant Gain to help one clip's audio transition to the other smoothly. I also added a Dip to Black effect at the end of the video to show that the video ended.

At Week 7, we also learned about colour grading and colour correcting,  Mr Martin show us two examples of colour grading in cool and warm tones.

We then learned how to apply colour into our video using the colour workspace, where we go into colour wheels and select the highlight, mid tone and shadow to enhance the colour of our video. For the colour grading exercise, we also used our previous shooting video to colour grade. For the colour grading, we first have to make an adjustment layer so that the colour can go onto the layer without messing up our original clips, if in any event that we wanted to make changes to our clips.

For the first colour grading attempt, we were asked to follow the original warm sunlit colour of the original soap commercial. After that, we are required to attempt to colour grade our video using an orange teal colour.
